Manawatū Gorge update

The Transport Agency is continuing to monitor the Manawatū Gorge for movement. The rock face above Kerry’s Wall has moved 80mm over the last month.
We’re planning to do more filming of the area via drone. The footage will provide a great visual insight into the Gorge slip and will be made available on the project’s webpage.

The team working on the Manawatū Gorge alternative route business case are busy preparing for the public feedback period which is scheduled to get underway later this month.  Please keep an eye on our website, in the Manawatū Standard, social media and via our weekly update for further information on what’s happening and how you can have your say.

The Transport Agency is committed to working quickly to develop recommendations, which means that there will be a relatively short timeframe for engagement. If you are receiving these updates you will also receive information about opportunities to get involved in this process.

Resurfacing on Salisbury Street

The resurfacing work on Salisbury Street has been delayed by poor weather this week. The work is scheduled to get back underway next week and continue for another two weeks. Sections of asphaltic concrete will be laid next week, which will temporarily impact on access to driveways.

The works will be undertaken in stages with affected properties notified prior to work commencing and some local short term detours will be in place. In order to complete resurfacing at the end of Salisbury Street a westbound Saddle Road closure will be in place on Tuesday 19 & Wednesday 20 September. These works are dependent on fine weather so please check our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/nztacni/ for up to date travel information.

Mulgrave Street resurfacing design work has now been completed with work expected to start upon completion of the Salisbury Street resurfacing works.

Saddle Road upgrade

We are continuing to monitor the Saddle Road and make repairs as required to ensure it remains safe. We are finalising plans for completing the last two sections for the Saddle Road upgrade and it is anticipated that these works will commence in late 2017. We are actively working on minimising the impact of the works for the travelling public.

Please check out our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/nztacni/ for the latest news and updates on the works.
