School's out for summer! Now what?

Employers have an important role to play in supporting working parents during the summer months

Now that summer has arrived, parents of school-aged children are bracing for the annual challenge of shuffling schedules around to fulfill childcare needs during their working hours. This process can be stressful and challenging for many parents, especially single parents and those without family supports. Employers have an opportunity to support working parents during this time, which can lead to reduced stress, improved employee engagement and productivity, and reduced turnover. Employer flexibility and support is key to making the summer months manageable for working parents. Whether it is through flexible work arrangements, childcare assistance, or even being familiar with available legislative leaves, employers can play a big part in easing the burden of summer care for working parents.
