Dear Teachers, We bring you a very excited welcome to Term Two! We have a shiny new exhibition and three incredible partnerships to unveil to you. AND this week we re-opened our doors to the public! With the election right around the corner we have resources to support your students' learning and to help answer those crucial questions about how young people can be active and informed. It’s wonderful to have you in our MoAD Learning community. If we can help you and your students in any way, please be in touch. MoAD Learning Democracy DNA: the People, the Prime Ministers and the WorldWe are excited to announce that MoAD launched its new permanent exhibition Democracy DNA: the People, the Prime Minsters and the World this week! This exhibition explores how we do democracy in Australia through an ongoing national conversation where the many voices contribute. We ask the big question that underpins this conversation: ‘what kind of world do you want to live in?’ This big question is the key question of our open democratic society. And this is what powers the conversation, as we discuss and navigate the road ahead into the future. This exhibition will form a significant part of our curriculum aligned programs through students exploration of our interactive trail experience. We’re also really excited about the launch of the refreshed PMs website. This is a fantastic resource for students and teachers, bringing together collections and objects from museums across Australia to tell the stories of our PMs. Local students were the first to explore Democracy DNA! Our special guests from local schools, highly engaged in conversations about democracy at our exhibition launch! These curriculum-aligned resources are for students from Years 5 - 10 and would go beautifully with discussions around election campaigns and politics that you may currently be having in your classrooms! The PM’s Daughter is a 10-part live action series set in Canberra, produced by Fremantle for the ABC. It tells the story of Catalina Parkes Pérez, a teenager who’s like any other, but with one difference: her mother is the new Prime Minister of Australia. The PMs Daughter resources are packed with activities which utilise content from the series coupled with active student participation, building knowledge of our democratic processes and civic responsibilities with a strong focus on developing media literacy and critical thinking skills.
