Updated NSW Health guidance for residential disability services and in-home support providers

NSW Health has issued updated guidance for residential and in-home support providers in the Northern Beaches LGA and Penrith LGA areas.

Key points

  • NSW Health have issued updated advice for residential disability services and in-home support providers in the Northern Beaches LGA or Penrith LGA, which excludes visitors and mandates mask-wearing for workers until further notice.
  • Please read and implement the measures outlined in the updated guidance, and monitor updates on high-risk locations.
  • The Greater Sydney area remains on high alert. Workers, or people you support who are displaying any symptoms should arrange for testing and isolate at home while awaiting the results.

Advice for Northern Beaches LGA and Penrith LGA

Following a recent spike in cases on 17 December 2020, NSW Health has issued their latest advice for residential disability care facilities and home care service providers. We strongly urge you to read the updated guidance in full, and implement the measures outlined to support the continued health, safety and wellbeing of the NDIS participants you support.

This and other guidance issued by NSW Health for disability support providers is available on the NSW Health website.

If you are making changes to your visitor management policy, you should clearly communicate these with residents and their families. Continue to encourage alternative ways for residents to connect with their friends or families, such as phone or video calls, during this time.

Advice for Greater Sydney

NSW Health have advised people in Greater Sydney to remain on high alert. This should include monitoring high-risk locations that your workers or the people you support may have visited, and ensuring that your emergency planning is up-to-date for the holiday period.

If you or any of your workers or people you support have any symptoms of COVID-19, they should arrange for testing and isolate at home while awaiting the results.
