MASTER COACHES SERIES #8 WRAP-UP
EA NCAS Level 1 Coach David Dobson conducted an informative masterclass at the Master Coaches Series last night at the State Equestrian Centre.
Spectators were given an opportunity to walk a jumping course with David and gain an understanding as to how he approaches his course walk and plans his ride. David emphasised the importance of paying attention when walking a course and planning the ride accordingly. David then commentated the course while a number of riders completed it, emphasising the importance of riding to the plan particularly indoors where there is less room for changing the stride.
David also talked about how ideally horses should finish the course in exactly the same tempo they started but in reality, the horses tend to get quicker. It is important to be aware of this as tougher courses will make the distances tighter towards the end of the course when the horses are often quicker.
