End of 2015: reflections from our National Director - Steve Bailey

Its that time of year, things are winding down, Christmas parties winding up, preparations and planning for next year. Stopping and thinking about how 2015 has rolled out, the highs and lows. I have started doing a list each year of things that are new - I call it my '15 in 15', so 15 things in 2015. I’m only up to 11 for the year and that is not an invite to try stupid things, as you know, I don’t like backing away from a challenge. But I have started this as way to remember the great things I have seen God do in the year as it is so easy to forget these things and focus on the hard or challenging stuff. We have had a pretty amazing year in CS. Too many incredible God things to write in this little spot but I would like you to sit and ponder this past year and think of one thing that has happened that only God can take credit for (give him a big yew and praise for it!). What happened in 2014 that made preparation for that thing to happen?

Lets start thinking forward: what has God set up for you to pray into for 2016? What are your expectations, hopes and dreams that you would love to see God be in and through 2016? Are we being strategic in our prayer? The scripture talks about our prayers and petitions before the Lord in Philippians 4:4-7. Stop and read verse 6 & 7. I love verse 7: 'the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus'. What are the scary things you feel the Lord asking you to do in 2016? What things do you want to see happen in 2016? I want to challenge you in this busy season to take some time to think about next year, the surfers at your beach and how God wants to use you to impact them with his grace and love. Write those things down and pray into them and wait and see what God does!

God Bless

Steve Bailey

New Swell 2015 - Aimless wandering to endless wondering

By Jacob Wood

New Swell, the CSA Junior Leadership Summit, is a week-long training for leaders in Christian Surfers at Torquay, Victoria. For many going the biggest drawcard was an excuse to surf one of the most famous breaks in the country, while the teachings would be a secondary after thought. Arriving in Torquay uncharacteristically on time we of the Southern NSW reps were quickly reminded that this was a CS trip, finding a ruckus group of groms showing little signs of structure or organisation.  Read the full article, Click Here

Update from CS Thailand..

Surfboard Repair Workshops
By Mat Manners

When I saw the advertisement on the CS website: shaper, ding-repairer wanted for mission trip to Thailand - I initially thought it was a set up, because of the fact that I was keen for missions, was qualified for the job and always wanted to go to Thailand! I could see God laughing when I read the request!

On arriving in Thailand I was greeted with the warm Thai air on my face, it felt good as the winters in Margaret River can be brutally cold! I was picked up from the airport by missionaries Tim and Sammy. It was Tim's vision to reach the local surfers in Thailand for Christ with the surfboard repair workshops. After arriving at Tim's house I unpacked and we headed straight for the beach. The beaches where surprisingly clean and very beautiful, with lush palms and trees overhanging onto the beaches. The only thing missing was ... Read the full article, Click Here

Saying Goodbye ...

In 2015, we had several people finish up in their roles on the CS National Team. As sad as this is, we know we are all on a journery and we need to head where God is taking us. CSA would like to thank the following people for their time and effort in serving our nation. Their work has been greatly appreciated and while a lot of their effort can go unseen, we know God sees and he is our audience. A HUGE thanks to:

  • Mel Thompson - Short Term Mission Coordinator
  • Dave Malven - Northern NSW Regional Coordinator
  • Leon Van Bussel - Northern NSW Mission Development Coordinator
  • Lach & Stacey Campbell - Southern NSW Regional Coordinator

As sad as this is, the exciting thing is that it opens up the doors for new people to 'Join the Movement' within the National Team. And while we say goodbye to them serving in their role, they are always in our hearts & part of our big CS family.  #ifoundmytribe

We have 4 regional Coordinators positions (WA, SA, Southern & Northern NSW), Short Term mission Coordiator & to see the Jesus Pro Am get off the ground again, we are after a Competition Director - To find out more - Click Here
