Nordic Performing Art Days 2014 in Denmark

The Nordic Performing Art Days will be held 9th - 21st of June 2014 in 4 cities in Denmark and this year the focus is on Globalization, Digitalization and Co-Creation within the performing arts.

NPAD offers a variety of events, workshops, lectures and Nordic performances organized by the Danish ITI center. Performing Arts Iceland are collaborating with the Danish in organizing the Days together with  Teaterunionen/Swedish ITI, TINFO,  Performing Arts Hub Norway and Leikarafelag Føroya.

 

Highlights of the Days:

9th - 12th of June in AAlborg
NEW COMMUNITIES: Lectures, workshops and performances. Teater Nordkraft & The Continuing Education of the National Performing Arts School.

12th - 14th of June in AArhus
The Performing Arts in Society: Works and dialogues. Aarhus Performing Arts Center, Bora-Bora & Danseværket.

15th - 17th of June in Odense
A festival and seminar program on Nordic children and youth culture. ASSITEJ Denmark & Nørregaards Theatre.

18th – 21st June in Copenhagen
CPH STAGE festival & Nordic Dramatrain with debates and international visiting program.

Episodes by Helena Jónsdóttir

Aladdin - by Bernd Ogrodnik, artistic director of Center for Puppet Arts and Figura, in collaboration with National Theatre of Iceland. A brand new puppetry performance based on the renowned story, Aladdin and the Enchanted Lamp from The Tales from Thousand and One Nights.

Episodes - The Icelandic Dance Company celebrates its 40th anniversary with a brand new dance piece by Helena Jónsdóttir. Episodes ( Ice. Tímar) pays homage to the global dancer who at all times wait in the shadow to be called on stage for their moment to shine.

Aladdin by Bernd Ogrodnik

Tragedy - by Mikael Torfason, directed by Una Þorleifsdóttir, produced by the National Theatre, Iceland with music by John Grant.  The production has been selected for the  World Stage International Theater Festival 2014 at The Kennedy Center in Boston, USA in March 2014

Upcoming new creations

The Big Babies -  by Lilja Sigurðardóttir, produced by LabLoki.  The Big Babies is a  brand new play where the playwright addresses the ambiguious value of love. A middle-aged carpenter arrives at Mommy´s house seeking love and affection. Love that he is willing to pay for.  Mommy will take care of him and love him - for the right amount - like all her other big babies.  Premieres November 2nd 2013.

FETTA- BRETTA - a new dance piece for the youngest children ( 0-3 yrs) from the creator of Cloud City, choreographer Tinna Grétarsdóttir. Produced in collaboration with National Theatre of Iceland. Fictional characters bring the children into a fantasy world where sound, music, forms, colors and movements are ensembled into a whole. Afterwards the children are invited to enter the stage and play with the props. Premieres November 9th 2013.
