Memorial Day Observance

Barnard Elementary joins our fellow Americans in remembering those that serve our country - past and present. It's not just a "day off" from school. Memorial Day has deep meaning and significance in our nation's history. Memorial Day was originally established in 1868, three years after the Civil War, to honor our fallen veterans. The first date chosen was May 30th. It was believed that this date was selected because most flowers were in bloom at that time, and the original intent was to "decorate the graves of the dead with flowers." Explore Memorial Day with your child to better understand why this date became an important observation to Americans. "Learn Local" Campaign Begins! You Can Help!

Barnard Elementary has been serving the families of East Beverly for over a century by educating generations of exceptional community leaders. We are reaching out to our attendance area families who may not have considered Barnard as their school choice. Watch the website for updated testimonials and features about our outstanding learning community here at Barnard.

You can help!

First, talk up Barnard to your neighbors who have school-aged children. Encourage them to go to our website, see what we're up to, and to call the school to arrange a tour.

Next, take a walk! Help us distribute door hangers to low attendance blocks in our area. Enjoy a sunny day with friends while getting your exercise. We'd like to get these distributed by June 7th so your help would be greatly appreciated!

Also, if your home is in a high traffic/high visibility location, let us know and we can arrange to lend you a lawn sign to help get the word out!

Finally, put your words to work! Email your quotes to Assistant Principal Meg Burns about your experience at Barnard. Our best testimony comes from the mouths of our parents and students who work with us every day.

Please email Meg Burns, Assistant Principal with your thoughts and reflections on Barnard, as well as your availability to help us reach out to our friends and neighbors about our amazing learning community here at Barnard!

NWEA Testing Continues Through June 7th

THANK YOU to all parents who are getting your students to school ON TIME and EVERY DAY! This is particularly important during our testing window, as absences and tardies disrupt the testing schedule. If you have been contacted or received notice about excessive tardies and absences, we appreciate your willingness to work with us in helping your student be present and ready to learn!
