We figured that you may have missed our March eNewsletter because of the holiday so we are sending it out to you again. Do you have friends who love the outdoors? Who do you invite on your adventures? Did you have any adventures over the Easter holiday? It is so easy to get stuck indoors behind the desk or focussed on the the current project that we sometimes forget that it is even more important for our health and well being to get outdoors, share quality time with friends and have adventures! These resources might help: Outdoor Safety QORF Management CommitteeThe recent QORF AGM saw a couple of changes to the Management Committee. Long time President Andrew Boyle from Coefficient resigned to take over the Vice President's role from Dave Hills, who has left the Committee to focus on his family and further study. We are very grateful for all the time and effort Andrew has put into the Presidents' role over the years and acknowledge the great contribution he has made, and we thank Dave for his input and enthusiasm over the past few years. Ginny Mitchell, from the Australian Catholic University and the Outdoor Education Association of Queensland, was voted in as the new QORF President by the Management Committee, which just happened to coincide with International Women’s Day! Ginny’s objective in life is to create opportunities for everyone to have meaningful and memorable outdoor experiences. We welcome Ray Buchanan from Motorcycling Queensland as the newest member of the Management Committee and appreciate the value his long involvement in outdoor recreation and the motorcycling community in Queensland will add to the work of the Committee. To be eligible, employees must be existing workers already working in the outdoor recreation sector, and may already hold a Certificate IV or higher level qualification. Training must be undertaken with a registered training organisation (RTO) who is approved to deliver the subsidised skill set training (a pre-qualified supplier PQS). To find an RTO who can tell you more information visit the Queensland Skills Gateway at http://www.skillsgateway.training.qld.gov.au and type in the training course you are interested in.
