Dear

I am writing to remind you about the mandatory vaccination requirements announced by the Tasmanian Government that will come into effect by 31 October 2021 and affect you if you are a practising audiologist.

The Acting State Health Commander has written a letter to all Tasmanian health care professionals highlighting that all persons, including audiologists, working in a medical or health facility as well as persons providing health and medical services or treatments, to have received a first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine or evidence of an exemption by 31 October 2021.

A medical or health facility includes:

  • hospitals, both public and private, and day-procedure centres
  •  premises owned, or operated by or on behalf of, the Department of Health
  • commercial premises where health and medical services or treatments are provided on a regular basis
  • pharmacies

Health and medical services or treatments include treatments provided by:

  • education settings in which health care students are managed to undertake placement, registration, and/or internships in clinical settings

Health care workers with specific medical conditions may request a COVID-19 vaccination exemption. This will need to be discussed with a GP or Specialist, who will need to complete the vaccination exemption form.

Further information on the mandatory vaccination of workers in health care settings is available here.

Please stay safe, and if there is anything we can do to assist you during this time, please don't hesitate to contact the office on 03 9940 3900 or email: info@audiology.asn.au.

Yours sincerely

Dr Tony Coles
