Cool Stuff Around the Co-opTONIGHT: Oktoberfest in the Backyard
Thursday, Oct. 19, 5-8 p.m., The Backyard at Weavers Way Chestnut Hill
Get your oompah on as Weavers Way, Iron Hill Brewery and A Taste of Philly Pretzels team up to provide a taste of Munich — beer, brats and soft pretzels, and the fabulous Weavers Way Mustard Bar. One dollar from every pint goes to support Food Moxie nutrition and
farming education programs.
You Must Re-MEMBER This:The Grand Opening Celebration at the new Ambler store, with a ribbon-cutting Friday, Oct. 27, and two days of fun Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 28 and 29. And you know what else is fun? Oct. 27-29 are Member Appreciation Days, with 5% off all purchases for members at all stores!
It's Magic! 2-for-1 Cooperator Hours Quite a few shifts are still available for the Harry Potter Festival in Chestnut Hill, Saturday, Oct. 21. So many, in fact, that we're offering double hours! It's easy to sign up — just go to the Online Work Calendar in the Member Center
(login required). Or do it the Muggle way — contact Membership at member@weaversway.coop or 215-843-2350, ext. 118. Still need hours? Consider these: - On Monday, Oct. 23, 2-8 p.m., Weavers Way is the marquee volunteer group for the (ding!) Fall Pledge Drive at WHYY's studios on Independence Mall. Volunteers must have basic keyboard proficiency and stay for the whole
shift; dinner will be provided.
- We need lots of help at the Fall General Membership Meeting, 5-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3 — probably even more than usual, because Mayor Jim Kenney is our special guest speaker.
- And don't forget, you can always sign up to sweep, sort, slice, fetch, tote and do the other chores that always need doing at Mt. Airy and Chestnut Hill — and now we have a whole new range of cooperator shifts at the Ambler store!
Save the Date, Get Your Tickets!
Friday, Nov. 3, 5-8 p.m., Waldorf School, 6000 Wayne Ave.
The fall 2017 Weavers Way General Membership Meeting will host a very special guest speaker — Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney. An advocate for public schools and sustainability, Kenney pushed through the city's sweetened-beverage tax and has opposed President Trump on immigration enforcement. Because we anticipate high interest in this event, we're requiring members to purchase tickets. Tickets are $5, and can be exchanged for $5 Weavers Way gift cards at the event. - A delicious buffet dinner from
the Weavers Way kitchen, Co-op business and dessert and conversation are also on the agenda.
- AND IT'S ZERO-WASTE, so bring your plate and fork or be prepared to rent them!
