Committee Leadership Updates
Thank you Dr Hughes The Shared Care Committee bids a fond farewell to Dr Kenneth Hughes at the end of his term as co-chair of the committee. Ken has been involved with the Shared Care Committee since 2012 as the specialist representative, and as the Doctors of BC co-chair since July, 2018. Ken brought his keen interest in quality improvement and patient and family advocacy to his roles. His enthusiasm, leadership, and thorough and thoughtful approach will be missed by the committee and partners who worked with him. We thank you Ken for your dedication, commitment and service, and for your support during this
transition period to a new co-chair.
"At Shared Care, I am part of a group that is making change at both the patient level and in the bigger health care system."

East Kootenay Palliative Care project
Creating the best 'last chapter' for palliative patients
in the East KootenaysPhysician Lead Dr Greg Andreas, a family physician in the East Kootenay Division of Family Practice, says the objective of including storytelling as part of their project is to encourage all palliative caregivers to be curious - to get to know, appreciate, and empathize with each patient, understanding that they are on a journey with that person. He believes the best palliative care makes that journey as fulfilling as possible, every day.
