21st ANNUAL PICYA MARGO BROWN WHEEL CHAIR REGATTA September 23, 2017 at Encinal Yacht Club

PICYA is hosting its 21st Annual Wheelchair Regatta. This event will once again provide veterans, many confined to wheelchairs, with the rare opportunity to experience a power boat cruise on the Oakland Estuary and San Francisco Bay along the San Francisco City front.

On their return, our guests will be treated to a picnic luncheon and entertainment on the grounds of Encinal Yacht Club. Most of our honored guests are U.S. Veterans residing in Northern California Veterans’ Homes and Hospitals.

In order to make this event successful, powerboat skippers/owners are needed to donate their time and boats to host one or more guests aboard their vessel.

Volunteers from each of our PICYA member clubs will make this a most memorable day for our guests, and for those donating their assistance as well. Many volunteers are also needed ashore to assist in welcoming, boarding, preparing and serving lunch, and entertainment.  It will give you a great feeling and gives veterans a fantastic day.

We need kitchen crew, hosts (Wheelchair pushing), and tax deductible donations.  There is something for everyone to do.

Concours d'Elegance - Tahoe Yacht Club - August 11-12, 2017

Jane Parsons

Jane Parsons passed away on Saturday, May 20th, after a hard-fought battle with cancer.  She joined our Club in 2005 and worked behind the scenes as a PICYA Delegate until last year when her illness prevented her from continuing in that position. Jane was also one of the original committee members for our annual community Lighted Boat Parade.

She retired as the Antioch City Treasurer after 21 years of service.  In 2015, Jane was awarded the Antioch Citizen of the Year Award.  She was also acting Ambassador of the Antioch Chamber of Commerce, Past President of Soroptimist International of Antioch, and had served as the 2006 Commodore at Driftwood YC.   She will be remembered by many as a very special lady who always had a smile for others and a willingness to help in any way possible.

Our sincere sympathy to Jane’s family.

PICYA is planning an eight-bells ceremony at the July Delegates Meeting at the Stockton Yacht Club on July 10th
