Martha's Message

Dear Parents,

I hope you had a beautiful Easter holiday and were renewed both physically and spiritually as you celebrated with whatever traditions were meaningful to your family. April and May always prove to be the busiest time of the year here at BES. The Fruit of the Spirit for April is PEACE...a very appropriate theme for the end of a very busy year.

Next Tuesday, April 17th is our Boosterthon Kickoff Pep Rally at 2:15 p.m. in the Parish Hall of Stormes Hall. The children love this event as it brings such excitement and positive energy to our school. This year's theme is Castle Quest. Our hope is that the school will raise enough money to enhance the McCormick Courtyard with pavers and tables. The children will be able to work out there on pretty days and enjoy both snack and the occasional lunch. We look forward to another great Boosterthon event on Friday, April 27th!

Don’t forget that Wednesday, April 18th is Portfolio Conference Day.  Extended Day will be open for siblings during the conference if you need it.

Fondly,
Martha Milton

Boosterthon Fun Run Program Starts April 17th, Fun Run Event on Friday, April 27th

Dear Parents,

We are excited to host this PSO Boosterthon fundraiser again this year!

The annual Boosterthon Fun Run is a 9-day program that kicks off with a Pep Rally on Tuesday, April 17 at 2:15 p.m. in the Parish Hall in Stormes Hall. Families will then gather pledges for every lap your student runs (30-35 laps), and we’ll celebrate at the Fun Run on Friday, April 27 at 8:30 a.m. on Hixon Field behind McCormick Hall. Our goal is to raise $12,500 for teacher wish lists as well as paving the grass courtyard at McCormick Hall so that our students can enjoy working outside on beautiful Florida days. We have once again asked the Fun Run experts at Boosterthon to power our Fun Run and make it more profitable, easier, and fun.

Students will also experience an amazing character theme, Castle Quest, an English castle theme all about being brave and living with character. On their quest to regain Bravemore Castle, students will learn the “Six Virtues of a True Hero” from a cast of colorful characters.

Money raised will go toward teacher wish lists and pavers in the courtyard. So, please help our school by reaching out to sponsors. All families are invited to come out and cheer on your students at the Fun Run! Thank you for your support!

Be on the lookout for more information coming soon!

Athletics Update

This week our soccer game was rained out. The make–up game will be determined at a later date. This year’s team has a lot of sixth graders on it. It is very exciting to see the bonding of friendships on our team! I am grateful for all our players’ hard work and dedication.

2018 Challenge Day Shirt Design Contest

Challenge Day is coming up fast, and every student is being given the opportunity to design our 2018 Challenge Day Shirt. Below are art guidelines to follow.

Art requirements: The best-supplied art comes when it is made with a thick sharpie marker on a sheet of blank white paper (printer paper, not lined notebook paper). Use solid colors, don't try to "shade" things with a lighter or darker version of the same color. If you only want it to be one color, use a black sharpie and we will print it in the color you tell us.

For a two-color image, just use sharpies in the colors you want. So if you want it to be blue and red, use blue and red markers.

Also, try to use a wide marker vs. an extra fine or fine. We don't want a lot of thin lines or text.

Due Date: The Artwork drawing is due to Ms. Limbaugh by 12:00pm on Thursday, April 19th

Write your name on the bottom of the paper in pencil.

Winner: We will announce the winning design at our Friday, April 20th Flag Ceremony.

Remember this will be worn on Challenge Day. Create a Challenge Day theme for our school.

Challenge Day takes place on Friday, May 18th. PreK3 and PreK4 students will have their activities from 10-11 a.m. and K-6 students will have theirs from 12:30-2:45 p.m.

Good luck with the shirt design contest, and have fun!

Go Rays!
