Re: COVID-19 Vaccine evidence requirement

From:  Ryan Midgley, General Manager, SA Retirement Communities

Requirements for South Australian residential aged care facilities are prescribed in the SA Health document Emergency Management (Residential Aged Care Facilities No 36) (COVID-19) Direction 2021.

There are 2 requirements regarding vaccination for contractors:

  1. COVID-19 vaccination – While COVID-19 vaccination is not mandatory, it is strongly encouraged. It is a requirement that all employees, contractors and volunteers notify Calvary of any COVID-19 vaccination they have received and provide evidence of this. While non-vaccination may not preclude entry it is important we understand the risk exposure to our residents and a requirement for us to record this information.
  2. Seasonal Influenza Vaccination – As previously advised seasonal Influenza vaccination is mandatory and a condition of entry to Calvary. Evidence of vaccination is required for entry (or medical contraindication)

Further information about COVID-19 and Aged Care is available on the SA Health  : www.sahealth.sa.gov.au/covidagedcare

The cooperation and extraordinary efforts of contractors in maintaining services and helping our staff manage the risk of infection to the people in our care has been excellent.
