Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) update

The following information has been provided by Catholic Schools NSW in consultation with NSW Department of Education.

The updated advice from the NSW Government for parents and affected staff is:

  • Any student or staff member who has been in, or transited through, mainland China (not just Hubei province) or has been in Iran is excluded from work, school or child care services for 14 days from the date they left mainland China or Iran (as the COVID-19 incubation period can be as long as two weeks).
  • Any confirmed case of COVID-19 will be excluded until they are medically cleared to return.
  • Close contacts of a confirmed case of COVID-19 will be excluded for 14 days since last contact with the confirmed case.
  • Students and staff who have returned to Australia from mainland China or Iran more than 14 days ago and have shown no symptoms are able to return to school.

The school has placed hand sanitizing stations around the school for staff and students.

As it is an evolving situation I would highly recommend that you click here for regular updates. We will continue to disseminate information as we receive it.

Cinderella: A Pantomime

Rehearsals Begin

Our musical pantomime is in full swing with the exciting commencement of Cinderella: A Pantomime rehearsals Wednesday afternoon!

Following the success of the audition week and casting, over 50 students, from Years 7 – 12 will be part of our rehearsals each Wednesday afternoon, until the production in Term 3. These students are full of dedication to developing a spectacular show and will also be present for some Sunday rehearsals.

The first rehearsal was one of ensemble building. As the whole cast is responsible for character development and success of the production, it is important to have group cohesion and trust. The rehearsal saw students eagerly participate in a series of energetic activities to break performance fear barriers. As a cast, they independently created their own brief performance version of the Cinderella narrative using the techniques of pantomime. Students were able to unpack the skills involved with a pantomime performance and ‘dip their toes in the water’ for what this feels like on stage. It’s only been one rehearsal – but the show is sure to be a hit!

We welcomed our families during this rehearsal time. It was great to see how JPC is a community larger than the classroom.

It is clear that the cast and crew are excited and taking their commitment toward this show seriously. The inclusivity and vitality of the cast is commendable and the cast has already made the crew proud. Energy levels at the first rehearsal were high and everyone’s focus was directed to the various tasks at hand. Chookas to all and we look forward to the next rehearsal!
