Stephanie O'Meara Arts Up FrontCinderella: A Pantomime Rehearsals Begin Our musical pantomime is in full swing with the exciting commencement of Cinderella: A Pantomime rehearsals Wednesday afternoon! Following the success of the audition week and casting, over 50 students, from Years 7 – 12 will be part of our rehearsals each Wednesday afternoon, until the production in Term 3. These students are full of dedication to developing a spectacular show and will also be present for some Sunday rehearsals. The first rehearsal was one of ensemble building. As the whole cast is responsible for character development and success of the production, it is important to have group cohesion and trust. The rehearsal saw students eagerly participate in a series of energetic activities to break performance fear barriers. As a cast, they independently created their own brief performance version of the Cinderella narrative using the techniques of pantomime. Students were able to unpack the skills involved with a pantomime performance and ‘dip their toes in the water’ for what this feels like on stage. It’s only been one rehearsal – but the show is sure to be a hit! We welcomed our families during this rehearsal time. It was great to see how JPC is a community larger than the classroom. It is clear that the cast and crew are excited and taking their commitment toward this show seriously. The inclusivity and vitality of the cast is commendable and the cast has already made the crew proud. Energy levels at the first rehearsal were high and everyone’s focus was directed to the various tasks at hand. Chookas to all and we look forward to the next rehearsal!
