Talk: History and Future of 'The Circuit' TrailsThursday, Feb. 23, 7:30-9 p.m., Schuylkill Center, 8480 Hagys Mill Road
An estimated 900,000 people walk, jog, bike, make art, play and spend time on the Philadelphia section of the Schuylkill River Trail every year. But this 8-mile stretch is just a fragment of the 750-mile regional trail system dubbed "The Circuit" that connects the city to its surrounding counties in three states, with long-distance links to the Poconos, DC and the Susquehanna River.
Planner and landscape architect Robert Thomas, one of the original planners of the Schuylkill River Trail and a longtime trail designer and advocate, will discuss The Circuit in the sixth annual Richard L. James Lecture, established in memory of the Schuylkill Center's founding executive director. Current ED Mike Weilbacher
will also share details on how the Center’s master plan integrates a connection to the Schuylkill River Trail. The event is free and open to the public. Click here for more info.
