SAY HELLO TO THE CLASS OF 2026! We are thrilled to extend a warm welcome to our 116 new LUCA Scholars, the remarkable Class of 2026! What began as a bold vision with just two scholars 13 years ago has blossomed into a powerful movement. We are incredibly proud to relentlessly pursue our mission: transforming college dreams into reality for first-generation, low-income students. This vital work is made possible through our valued
partnerships with Alexander Hamilton, Fox Lane/Mt. Kisco, New Rochelle, Ossining, Peekskill, Port Chester, Sleepy Hollow, and White Plains High Schools. COLLEGE KNOWLEDGE ORIENTATION- OUR SIGNATURE EVENT Our incoming LUCA Scholars Class of 2026 recently completed an intensive two-day program, equipping them with crucial tools for their college journey. They engaged in workshops covering the intricacies of the college application process, navigating financial aid, mastering SAT diagnostics, crafting compelling personal statements, and meticulously building their college wishlists. We extend our gratitude to LUCA Scholars Hilary C. (Class of ‘22, Cornell University, ‘26) and Gisell Z. (Class of ‘25, Mercy University, ‘29) for sharing their invaluable experiences and inspiring our new class. We’re grateful to SUNY Westchester Community College for their warm hospitality. Our Scholars truly enjoyed the beautiful campus and excellent facilities.
COLLEGE TRANSITION DAY Earlier this month, LUCA hosted its annual College Transition Workshop to help the Class of 2025 Scholars prepare for the journey ahead. From building community to navigating campus life, Scholars participated in interactive workshops and activities designed to ease the transition and build confidence. It was especially meaningful to see them proudly wearing shirts from the colleges they’ll be attending — a true celebration of their accomplishments and exciting futures. The day concluded with an inspiring College Success Panel featuring LUCA Scholars and Alumni: Guadalupe ’23 (Sacred Heart University ’27), Lea ’22 (NYU ’26), Hilary ’22 (Cornell University ’26), and Danielle ’19 (Stony Brook University ’23). Thank you to our panelists for sharing your journeys.
FULL CIRCLE MOMENT: MENTORS PAVING THE WAY The power of our full-circle mission shines brightly! Juan R., a distinguished LUCA Scholar (Class of 2023, Dartmouth College '26), is now giving back as a Volunteer College Coach for our Class of 2026.
COLLEGE DORM DRIVE Our College Dorm Drive is vital for ensuring our Class of 2025 Scholars begin college with confidence and comfort. By providing essential dorm supplies, we directly reduce financial burdens and demonstrate invaluable community support, empowering them for a strong start to their academic journey. Donate today and give our Scholars the great start that they deserve.
LUCA is profoundly grateful to our foundation partners, whose unwavering support is instrumental in making college dreams a reality for our Scholars.
