TAX HELP

While we are closed Tax Help is not available in the library BUT Virtual Tax Help is available at the Australian Taxation Office if your personal income is $60,000 or less and you have a myGov account linked to ATO online services. Check your eligibility and call 13 28 61, select Option 3 and then Option 2 to make an appointment for Virtual Tax Help.

KIDS PROGRAMS ONLINE

Join the Waverley Library team online this week as we deliver a range of activities to keep your young ones creative, engaged and inspired. We see shapes everywhere in the world; circles, triangles, squares and more so why not join us for a shape themed morning of stories, rhymes and craft for those children aged 5 years and under. For school aged children we are exploring The Wondrous World of Dr. Seuss with an afterschool session of activities and craft. LEGACY WEEK

ANZAC SNIPER BY ROLAND PERRY

Stan Savige, the son of a struggling country butcher, was inspired by a Bible passage to enlist in 1915. It was discovered he was a crack marksman by officers and he was put in charge of the sniper’s post at Anzac Cove. He survived Gallipoli and began a long, dangerous and distinguished military career spanning both World Wars and earning him many awards, including Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire. MONSIEUR MAYONNAISE

Artist and filmmaker Philippe Mora is producing a graphic novel about his late father, Georges, widely known in Melbourne as a beloved contemporary art patron and owner of bohemian eateries Mirka Café, Café Balzac and the Tolarno Restaurant and Galleries. Less known, however, is Georges' astonishing history in the French resistance during World War II, his friendship with renowned mime Marcel Marceau, and how together they saved thousands of Jewish lives with a fiendishly simple trick involving baguettes and mayonnaise.
