Next Epic Update –
Sunday, Aug. 15
Update Companions Available Starting Friday, July 23The next Epic Update is Sunday, Aug. 15, and includes new features and enhancements. Starting Friday, July 23, you can review your Update Companion to find out how the Update impacts your role. Note: The process is easier for you – you no longer have to acknowledge your review. Here are a few improvements coming with the Update:
For Everyone:- New sign-in and opt-in groups in Secure Chat will make it easier to communicate with others in your department or hospital. With sign-in groups, when you use the Sign In activity at the beginning of your shift to assign yourself to patients, you’re automatically added to appropriate groups based on your role and location.
- Use the simple E-Signature Document Collector activity so patients can electronically sign documents, such as consent forms,
through MyChart.
- A new Behavioral Health module will be added to Epic to streamline documentation and orders for inpatient and outpatient behavioral health service providers. The new module also improves treatment planning for patients, with some records available across their care team.
For Inpatient Nurses: - Use Chart Search to jump to Summary Reports using fewer clicks.
- Use the Brain to track
Personal Tasks that are care team/user-specific and not tied to any patient, like bed huddles or updating patient assignments.
For Providers: - Prevent receipt of new Secure Chat messages in a one-on-one conversation by setting your status to Unavailable. This mitigates some concerns about liability for not responding to messages, but will not apply to group chats or forwarded messages.
- Providers who use Epic mobile – Haiku – can use an expanded Voice
Assistant feature for voice prescription ordering.
