Breathr – a mindfullness app for youthThe Health Literacy team at BC Children's Hospital, along with a number of different experts and youth, have developed Breathr – a new app for youth to help introduce the concept of mindfulness. CIF Crisis GrantsThe Consumer Initiative Fund's (CIF) Crisis Grant is intended to assist people with mental health or substance use issues who are experiencing significant financial strain due to unexpected circumstances. It is open to Vancouver residents 19 years or older, by referral from a current health care worker. Learn more and apply. Mental Health First Aid (Kelowna) – June 28 to 29Presented by CMHA Kelowna, this 2-day course provides the basic tools for helping someone who might be experiencing a mental health crisis or problem. Learn about mental health and mental illness, signs and symptoms of common mental health problems and crisis situations, treatments and ways to access help. Learn more. Suicide Alertness Training (Salmon Arm) – July 12Join CMHA Shuswap/Revelstoke for a half-day workshop that could help save a life. SafeTalk teaches participants how to recognize a person who might be having thoughts of suicide, and quickly connect a person at risk to resources that can further intervene and keep them safe. Mental Health for All Conference (Toronto) – Sept 18-20Join other key leaders, thinkers, workers and people with lived experience of mental illness and recovery at CMHA's national conference. Learn more. Highs and Low of Cannabis and Psychosis – June 25The BC Schizophrenia Society invites you to their Annual General Meeting, featuring a special panel discussion on cannabis and psychosis. Lawn Days of Summer (Vernon) – Aug 9, 16 and 23JCI Vernon and BDO Canada LLP have teamed up for the second annual Lawn Days of Summer lawn bowling tournament. Addiction Recovery Week – Sept 4-10Global addiction experts will gather for the Recovery Capital Conference of Canada in New Westminster, followed by Recovery Day BC Festival. Learn more. Program Manager – CMHA Port AlberniCMHA Port Alberni is seeking a program manager to oversee their programs and services and develop community and funder relationships. The program manager is responsible for the development and delivery of the Clubhouse Program, which provides community-based rehabilitation, a daily lunch program, social, recreational and employment opportunities for people with mental illness. Balancing Bipolar Peer Supporter – CMHA North and West VancouverThe peer supporter functions as a positive role model to clients with bipolar disorder; demonstrating competency in personal recovery and use of evidence-based self-management strategies. They provide clients in inpatient or outpatient settings with resources, support and advocacy from the perspective of a person who has lived experience. Learn more and apply.
