This
is Your Captain Speaking
Hello Westies! It's been a long and hot summer and now it's time to pull out those zooties, find all those non matching socks to make up pairs to use and get excited.
The next couple of weeks are going to be full on. We've got a boatshed cleanup followed by the Lord Mayor's Cup Regatta on this Sunday, the Easter long weekend and then the winter season will be upon us. There are also opportunities for those brave enough to visit the great South West for the Masters Games in Albany and a winding row along the Swan for the Guildford to Garratt Head Race.
Cheers,
Mike Jones
WARC Captain

Start of Season Clean Up
This Saturday 31st March we are going to have a busy bee coupled with a sausage sizzle as we're going to have a lot of people down at the Shed the next day with the Lord Mayor's Cup. To those who can't come down as they're racing at the Schoolboys Head of the River - good luck!
All Club Members are asked to come down from 8:00am - even for a little bit - to clean up and help out.
The deck in particular will need a good scrub to try and avoid slippages when it is heavily used on LMC day.
We are also going to need assistance with boat moving on the Sunday afternoon. We'll be looking for people to help with boat shifting as we need to get the borrowed fours back to their homes.
Any queries please contact MB on mr.michael.berry81@gmail.com.

Lord Mayor's Cup Regatta Day - April 1st
For the uninitiated (since there are plenty of new people on the mailing list this month), the Lord Mayor's Cup is our annual corporate regatta, and our most important fundraiser.
The hard work getting 128 novice rowers out on the water in 4+'s is almost over, now everyone is invited to the party. Sunday April 1st (unless you didn't know) is the Lord Mayor's Cup. The regatta will run from 7:00am through to midday or so, after which we'll be spending most of the afternoon moving the boats back from storage.
Thanks once again for the coaches and volunteers who have given up their time. Please join us on the morning of April 1st for the challenges and carnage. All race day volunteers are asked to arrive from 5:30am to set up for the regatta. If you haven't been given a specific job yet, one of the race day organisers (myself, Ange Nicholson, Brad Scott, Peter Klemm or Sten Campbell) will most likely be in touch this week.
There should be pizzas and some sort of celebration before the back breaking (let's face it some of those boats are heavy) shifting of the LMC boats back to their homes.

Start of Winter Season
After Easter (and fittingly your last chance to eat chocolate without guilt) WARC's winter rowing season gets underway.
The Winter Season will officially start on Tuesday April 10th. We are in the final stages of matching coaches to squads, and registration packs with all of the season's details will be available around this time next week.
For all you uninitiated, this is where rowing gets exciting. For all Squad X'ers who have really enjoyed the Summer Rowing, we would love to see you all carry on through winter, and we will have a squad to offer you.
What I can tell you now is the 2012 membership fees, which are listed below. To keep things simple the membership no longer includes any prepaid oar fees. All memberships run from 1 April 2012 to 31 March 2013, except the Secondary Winter-Only membership, which expires on 30th September 2012.
Full $560
Student $400
Recreational $350
Secondary Student, Winter Only $180
For those of you who store a privately-owned boat in the boatshed, the 2012 Rack Fees are $100 + $50/seat.
Membership forms and payment details will be sent out with the registration packs next week. One small reminder: if you are making a direct debit payment to the WARC account PLEASE put your name and correct EFT code in the description.
