The Cultural Sector Capability Fund, the Creative Arts Recovery and Employment (CARE) Fund and the Cultural Sector Innovation Fund collectively provide $150 million in longer-term support to the arts and culture sector. This is an investment to create opportunities for employment and skills development, promote innovation and enhance New Zealanders’ access to inspiring cultural experiences. They’re already delivering support to, or taking applications through our partner agencies. This is good for artists, musicians and creative practitioners, and good for the industries that sit around them – our production companies and venues, for hospitality and tourism. It’s also good for Aotearoa, as we know the significant contribution the culture sector makes to our economy and wellbeing, and how vital its strength is for our recovery as a nation. For information about the initiatives in the Arts and Culture COVID Recovery Programme visit www.mch.govt.nz ![]() ![]() Creative Careers Support online huiAt the end of August, Manatū Taonga and the Ministry of Social Development jointly hosted online hui with creatives to get feedback on the design of a pilot for the new Creative Careers Support service. As the service is to support people back into employment in the creative sector, and to develop and extend the skills of creatives whose income is affected by COVID-19, the hui was a great opportunity to listen to people who may use the service. It allowed us to learn, and get feedback on its design which is helping us develop a framework for pilots in Auckland from November, then in Waikato and Nelson in the first half of 2021.
