This week’s Top 5 contains things you can enjoy doing whilst staying at home! Watch your favourite spots around Norfolk and travel through time, discovering the history of the county, keep moving with Joe Wicks, learn something new with The Open University and continue to cook up a storm with Jamie Oliver. And most importantly, stay at home, and stay safe.
Keep Cooking and Carry On Jamie Oliver is fronting a new cookery show which started this Monday, focussing on easy-to-follow, nutritious recipes and making the most from kitchen staples. The series, which was turned around in just a few days, forms part of Channel 4’s response to these current times. PASSPORT PARTNER UPDATESThe weekly top 5 will be used to bring you the latest updates from Norfolk Passport brands during the fight against COVID-19. For the latest information please click here. We will update this as frequently as possible. Following Government guidance and making the right decisions at the right times has been of the utmost importance for the safety and wellbeing of customers and staff. Last Tuesday saw the closure of all Norfolk Passport partner restaurants, Saturday our hotels closed and finally self-catering early this week. Byfords Store transformed into a community shop selling essential store cupboard goods (at cost price) and takeaway food items, with 30% of sales being donated to Love Holt to give back to the community. The initiative was a great success and had a huge positive impact on the community and those who volunteered! The Ffolkes also set up a village shop to service the local community in Hillington, with 30% of takings being donated to The Norfolk Hospice. Both initiatives have closed for the time being due to stricter guidance from the government. It is a real tough situation, a constant juggle between social responsibility and trying to flatten out our financial sombrero! Teams across Norfolk Passport brands have shown such positivity through difficult times, the energy and creativity is an incredible motivator to us all! However, the impact on our medium-sized business, based on a closure of 16 weeks (hopefully!), will be around £500,000 from reserves. We are eagerly awaiting news from the PM on how best to support our self-employed team members. We started a construction project in January at The Lodge, Drayton creating 33 houses and 5 apartments. Most people working on the project are self-employed and we are doing our best to get the balance correct and support them through this period. SUPPORTING NORFOLK PASSPORT HOLDERS
