Zorb New Zealand achieves OutdoorsMark
A proactive approach to safety has seen Zorb achieve its OutdoorsMark certification.
OutdoorsMarks fundamental objectives is to give participants on adventure activities, and the public, the assurance that the management of the activities has been checked by an independent expert - an OutdoorsMark auditor. If the operation is assessed by the auditor as being at, or above, the benchmark standards of the OutdoorsMark certification scheme, Skills Active grants OutdoorsMark certification. – Skills Active Aotearoa.
Using 100% external assessors to achieve this safety certification, Zorb New Zealand can boast its safety systems have been scrutinised externally and endorsed through Skills Active. “This endorsement by external assessors and industry experts reinforces the quality of the safety systems in place at Zorb New Zealand” Haydn Marriner – Zorb New Zealand.
Zorb New Zealand was assessed against the new Health and Safety Legislation and can now demonstrate the most up to date safety systems. Zorb is proud to be the first business to pass the audit against the new legislation, and rewarded by having the most current systems of all businesses involved in the ball rolling sector.

Please note Zorb offers a transfer service for FIT's and group optionals from Rotorua CBD accommodation.

Ziptrek brings Queenstown to TRENZ
Last month saw Ziptrek Ecotours bring its award-winning Queenstown experience to over 260 of the world’s leading travel buyers at New Zealand’s biggest international tourism event.
As many buyers have never been to Queenstown - let alone had the chance to experience the thrill of ‘zipping’ through the trees enjoying stunning lake and alpine vistas - Ziptrek used world-leading virtual reality video technology to bring the exhilarating zipline tour to them.
Buyers at Tourism Rendezvous New Zealand (TRENZ) were immersed in the world of Ziptrek by donning the latest Samsung VR headset to be part of the sights, sounds and sensory experiences of New Zealand’s original zipline trip.
A high definition clip filmed with a multi-camera set up means the video has full 360 degree capabilities, literally ‘putting’ the buyer on the company’s framed treehouses, zipping downhill and able to look around them at the stunning views as they do so.
Flying high after six successful years in business, the video technology is the latest innovation for the multi-award-winning company.
“TRENZ was the perfect platform to launch the 360-degree immersive technologies, putting an experiential product such as this into the hearts and minds of our buyers,” said Ziptrek Ecotours director Trent Yeo.
“For those who aren’t sure what this looks like, it’s like a “live” version of Google Streetview, only it’s Google Streetview on steroids!
“We’re trying to get people to feel what it’s like to be flying through the trees and see the majesty of our tree architecture in context.”
Ziptrek will be using the headsets on future sales trips, both domestic and overseas, as a tool for staff training, and may have them in their Queenstown store to give people a “taste” of the trip before booking.
Ed Sheeran has fun in Queenstown
As Ed Sheeran often sings “We made these memories for ourselves” and he sure did that when he visited Queenstown last month.
A slighty nervous Sheeran took some time out of his busy schedule to visit Shotover Canyon Swing and Shotover Canyon Fox and he had a blast!
He bravely rode along the unique launch rail that dropped him from the cliff 182m high above the Shotover River. After doing the two canyon fox lines he then did the legendary Shotover Canyon Swing.
The team at base reported Mr Sheeran was really friendly with all their staff and seemed nice and relaxed after conquering the challenges of the Shotover Canyon Fox and Shotover Canyon Swing. “Beforehand he was pretty nervous - it seems that standing in front of thousands of screaming fans doesn't prepare anyone for a cliff jump - Shotover Canyon style!”
Canyon Swing and Fox were very proud to have Ed Sheeran visit and have a go on their legendary products – Let’s hope we see him come back for more one day!
