The membership period is from January 2022-December 2022 and there are three options for payment:

  1. Pledge your $20 using Patreon by paying $2 a month, OR
  2. Pay $20 to the OZeWAI PayPal account using PayPal.Me/ozewai, OR

Round Table Conference 

The upcoming Print Disability's Round Table conference has the theme “Inclusion and Access to Information in Our Changing World”, presenters will explore the ever-expanding opportunities presented to people with print disabilities for information access and creation, communication and learning.

The extensive high quality conference program includes renowned presenters from across the world. The conference will provide you with updates on accessible and inclusive practices and projects, braille education, innovative audio and artificial intelligence applications, and much much more.

Intro to Digital Accessibility 

In this seminar for GAAD week, Ronny Andrade (Digital Accessibility Lead, RMIT University), will cover the basics of digital accessibility, and will provide an introduction to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), an industry standard to create accessible digital content and experiences.

Held via Microsoft Teams Live from 12noon-1pm on Monday 16 May. Ronny is a CPACC, has a PhD, and has lived experience of low vision. As part of his doctoral research, he investigated accessibility in videogames for people with visual impairment.

Embedding Accessibility in Procurement 

Andrew Normand (Web Accessibility Lead, Melbourne University) presents a GAAD week online overview of the latest developments in Accessible ICT Procurement. Awareness has increased regarding the importance of embedding accessibility within the ICT Procurement Process, the challenge now is to identify meaningful procurement practices to ensure accessible ICT. 

Held via Microsoft Teams Live from 12noon-1pm on Tuesday 17 May. Andrew will also examine tools that can be used, and the role of Product Owners, Procurement Officers, Project Managers and Business Analysts.

TTC GAAD Webinar

TTC will be celebrating GAAD on Wednesday 18 May with a live webinar at 10am to discuss 'Usability Testing, User Research and Accessibility'. OZeWAI co-chair Bri Norton joins the panel that includes Kylie Pollock of TTC who will provide a flavour of TTC's Lived Experience training to bring to life some of the barriers people with disability encounter in our digital world and why it is important to learn from people with lived experience.

Global Accessibility Awareness Day 

Help celebrate the 11th Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD) on Thursday 19 May by hosting and/or participating in events around the world designed to get everyone talking, thinking and learning about digital access and inclusion, and the billion people living in the world with disabilities.

A11y Bytes 2022 

A11y Bytes is back for its tenth year on 19 May celebrating GAAD in Australia with a series of lightning talks about digital accessibility and the needs and preferences of people with disabilities, posted on the A11y Bytes YouTube channel throughout the day. There will also be a live Q&A at 3pm AEST (GMT+10).

OZeWAI members Bri Norton and Gerry Neustatl are presenting this year.

You don’t have to be an accessibility aficionado to attend. Take part and connect, be inspired and have some fun as we talk, learn, grow and change the world. 

 

The Evolution of Accessible Documents

ADWebKey (formerly Web Key IT) is also celebrating GAAD, with an online event featuring world-renowned document accessibility expert Dax Castro: Vice President of ADAlign for Documents, Trainer at AbleDocs and a popular speaker at OZeWAI 2020. The event will run from 9:30am–10:15am, (Perth time: GMT +8) on 19 May and includes a Q&A session.

Inclusive Design 24

The Call For Presentations for Inclusive Design 24 (#id24) is open now 5 June. This free 24-hour online event on 22 September for the global community celebrates inclusive design and shares knowledge and ideas from analogue to digital, from design to development, from planners to practitioners, and everything and everyone in between.

After taking a hiatus in 2021, WordPress Accessibility Day returns 2-3 November with a free 24-hour global event focused on accessibility in WordPress.
