IEEE Conformity Assessment Program (ICAP) and Washington State University Laboratory Sign MoU to Develop Conformance Framework for Syncrophasors

The IEEE Conformity Assessment Program (ICAP) and Washington State University Laboratory through its smart Grid Demonstration and Research Investigation lab (SGDRIL), have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop and implement a standards-based, Smart Grid related test program. The program focuses on IEEE C37.118 syncrophasor performance, accuracy and certification testing - providing utilities with important information to validate manufacturer’s syncrophasor claims. Synchronized phasor measurements (synchrophasors) provide real-time measurement of electrical quantities across a power system. Applications of synchrophasor measurements include system model validation, determining stability margins, maximizing stable system loading and system-wide disturbance recording.

Under the terms of the MoU, the scope of this strategic partnership will include cooperative marketing and educational activities and to engage in open dialogue to further IEEE standards conformity in global markets.  Continue Reading.

IEEE-ISTO Virtual DAC Presentation

On the heels of another successful booth presence at this past June's Design Automation Conference (DAC), IEEE-ISTO also participated in Synopsys' Virtual DAC experience.  This online event promotes industry standards that provide increased productivity, reduced cost and improved EDA interoperability.

Program Profile Series - TagVault.org

TagVault.org is a registration and certification authority for software identification tags (SWID tags) based on the ISO/IEC 19770-2:2009 standard.

TagVault is a member-driven organization that provides a forum for sharing information and resources about SWID tags among software publishers, tool providers and IT practitioners. TagVault provides a shared library of technical knowledge and software tools including consistent cross-vendor, cross-platform tools.

Recently, TagVault held its first annual Software Identification Summit designed to provide a forum for all software ecosystem members to discuss the future of software identification and discuss how these issues can be addressed in an authoritative fashion today with existing tools and technology.  There is a second summit in the early planning stages for 2012.  Visit the TagVault website for updated information on the 2012 Summit, as well as the latest TagVault.org news.
