As you will see from the content of this newsletter, there are a lot of developments and great successes from continued collaborations across all areas of our work and I encourage you to get involved where you can. It is only through the hard work and commitment of our unique community that we achieve what we do – together! The first official Board Meeting of the 2023-2027 Board of Directors took place in London at the ILDS office on 22nd and 23rd September 2023. Progress reports of all Committees were presented, and action plans discussed. These include collaboration with WHO, activities of International Foundation of Dermatology, ILDS Governance, World Skin Summit, and Global Partnership for Education and Care. It was a productive and energizing meeting. The next Board meeting will take place at the ILDS Regional Dermatology Training Centre in Moshi, Tanzania in January 2024. The Agenda would include a strategy planning session and further discussion for preparation for World Congress of Dermatology in Guadalajara in 2027. I look forward to meeting some of you at events over the coming months and hope to establish further connections as we continue our efforts to achieve #SkinHealth4theWorld.With warm personal greetings, Henry Meet the 2023-2027 Board! Our new Board are settling in to the new term with inspiring enthusiasm and the first full Board meeting was held in London recently and was a huge success. During the Board meeting, our first set of ByLaws were approved to support the revised Articles voted on by ILDS Members during the Assembly of Delegates in July. Keep an eye out in your inbox for member updates and we thank you for your patience and understanding while we implement any necessary changes. Click here to view the new ByLaws. Led by President Henry Lim, ILDS Board members and ILDS secretariat staff will be at EADV Congress 2023 in Berlin 11th-14th October. Meetings, formal and informal, will be held with partners and stakeholders in ILDS projects including GLODERM, International Foundation of Dermatology, GPEC, Global Psoriasis Atlas and other atlases such as the Global Atopic Dermatitis Atlas Work has already begun on planning the 2027 World Congress of Dermatology in Guadalajara, Mexico. WCD 2027 President Jorge Ocampo-Candiani updated the Board at the September meeting on the planning being undertaken by himself and WCD 2027 Secretary General Mariel Isa. Join the ILDS Migrant Health Symposium at the IUSTI Europe Congress in Valletta, Malta, on October 26, 2023, under the theme "Reaching Out to the Hard to Reach." Hosted by the ILDS and chaired by Dr. Valeska Padovese and Dr. Claire Fuller, the pre-congress symposium will offer expert insights on migrant health, including findings from a recent Lebanon mission. The Regional Dermatology Training Centre (RDTC) in Moshi, Tanzania, serves as a hub for dermatological care, training, and research. Established in 1990 through collaborative efforts, RDTC has trained over 314 professionals from 17 African nations. Recently, Emma van Rooijen (ILDS Head of Operations) and Safia Roble (IFD Foundation Programmes Coordinator) visited the centre, gaining insights into its diverse activities and initiatives, such as the ward, labs, compounding unit, residences, library, and lecture theatres.
