Tasting Notes:  The colour is deep garnet and there are strong aromas of mint, violets and dry herbs with hints of mocha and toasted oak. The palate has fine fruit tannins delicately balanced with rich fruit flavours of red currants, plums, blackberries, blueberries and well-integrated oak.

Enjoy With:  Spit roasted lamb or other flavourful red meats.

Style:  Full-bodied and smooth red wine.

Terroir/Region:  Howard Park Miamup Cabernet Sauvignon comes from the Wilyabrup sub-region of Margaret River, Western Australia. The Wilyabrup River flows through the vineyard which is home to both vines and natural Australian bush land. Soil types vary from gravely loam over clay to heavier, textured soils.  Below average winter rains and a beautiful summer produced excellent Cabernet in 2014 with bright acidity and supple tannins.

Producer:  Five members of the Burch family oversee operations at Howard Park Wines which embraces a mantra of “no compromise” in everything it does.  The winery follows a closed loop philosophy, which means giving back to the Earth whatever is taken from it. By using a mixture of organic and biodynamic principles, it is able to cater to the intricacies of each vineyard while still incorporating sustainable agricultural practices.

Availability:  Howard Park Miamup Cabernet Sauvignon is being officially released by Vintages this Saturday, November 25, 2017 but some stores will already have it on shelf.  Look for it in the Australian section.
