Congratulations to WA's 2016 FUSE delegates!
|
|
MYAN Australia recently announced the 32 young delegates from across Australia that have been selected to attend FUSE 2016. FUSE is a national multicultural youth summit being held in Melbourne later this year.
We would like to congratulate the four WA young people who were successful - Fatema, Golda, Liaqat, and Nafiso! Delegates were selected from a large pool of applicants, with the quality and diversity of applicants making it a tough selection process. All delegates will now participate in a pre-departure briefing in their home state or territory before making their way to Melbourne for three days of activities focused on building leadership and advocacy skills.
We look forward to hearing about their experience when they return. To read more about FUSE 2016 click here.

Understanding diverse sexualities and genders
|
|
YACWA's Youth Educating Peers (YEP) project is excited to present a FREE workshop for the youth sector, titled Understanding diverse sexualities and genders: digital media, young people, and diversification (from LGBT to the new language of online identities).
Starting in online spaces and social networking, young people have begun moving away from traditional gender and sexual identity descriptors like male/female and heterosexual or LGBT. In the past few years, dozens of new identities have emerged for both gender identity (cis-gendered, demiboy, genderfluid, non-binary) and sexuality (pansexual, sapiosexual, homoflexible). These identities are often very deeply-felt and very meaningful to many young people.
When: Thursday 10th November, from 1pm to 5pm
Where: Foyer Oxford, 196 Oxford Street, Leederville WA 6007

Understanding Civics and Citizenship
Are you aged 16-30? Then the Office of Multicultural Interests (OMI) wants to hear from you.
The aim of this survey is to ask youth from culturally and linguistically diverse (CaLD) backgrounds about their awareness of civics and citizenships in Australia, as well as their knowledge and interest in it. This survey seeks to find out if CaLD youth are interested in a program that teaches them about civics and citizenship in Australia and what specific topics or issues youth would like to know about. The findings from this survey will be used to tailor and modify the existing program to focus on CaLD youth.
You can complete the survey here
