Retail giant Marks & Spencer has received a £1million fine, plus £600,000 costs for failing to protect staff, customers and workers from potential exposure to asbestos during works to refurbish it’s Reading and Bournemouth stores.

CO alert as accidents treble

Reports from the Gas Safety Trust state that carbon monoxide incidents have trebled in the last year. The October-March period poses the greatest risk, with nearly 75% of Carbon Monoxide (CO) related incidents being recorded in that time period.

Injured worker didn't read risk assessment

R Todd & Company have been fined £20,000 for breaches of S.2(1) of the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974, after a man was left with a disabling injury suffered in an industrial accident on 4th September 2009. A report found that safety failures at a Fife farm conspired, allowing this to happen.
