Dear Subscriber

'Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up."

This quote from Picasso is so evident as I watch the uninhibited enthusiasm of the children in our holiday art workshops. Whether they're turning their Picasso inspired paintings upside down, sculpting crazy clay pots, or exploring the possibilities of animation, each child's individual creativity and confidence is inspiring. As adults, we have much to learn from them.

Pablo (pictured left) has been loving all the attention and seemed quite keen to be part of the Paint Your Pet workshop - if only kids didn't take this literally and try to use him as a canvas!

Term 4 is also upon us, with adult courses resuming the week of 10 October, and children's term courses starting the week of 17 October. There are plenty of courses and workshops where you can also demonstrate your uninhibited enthusiasm for art, so read below, visit the website or phone us to discuss your options.

Make sure you pop into the Gallery to see the vibrant artworks of Paul McCarthy, on exhibition until 18 October. We then host the GreenWay Arts Prize. Don't forget to submit your entries and be part of this annual event.

Enjoy the long weekend, travel safe, and see you at Art Est. soon.

Regards,

Jennifer McNamara, Director

Animated Kids on Holidays

Brilliant to see so many children at Art Est. these holidays experimenting with all types of art and media. Todd's two day workshop this week saw a bunch of children aged 9-11 learning the art of animation - armed with paper, charcoal, a rubber, a digital camera and loads of imagination, they produced some amazing results. We'll upload these to the website soon so you can see the animations for yourself.

Cartooning has again captured kids' attention, so due to popular demand, we have another half day session scheduled for Wednesday 5 October. Little monsters and ghouls won't be disappointed when they join two of our new Halloween themed sessions on Thursday 6 October.

We still have places in many workshops, so visit the web page to see what's still available.

Also enrolling now for Term 4 with 8 week courses held after school and Saturdays.
