Global Scholar Conference Call for Presentation Proposal Submissions


Submit a proposal to present a session at the first UT Global Scholar Conference to be held in February.

Deadline for submissions: Monday, January 18, 2016.

The mission of the Global Scholar Conference is to connect UT students who would like to develop a broadened mindset and global perspective with UT students, faculty or staff who have participated in some of the opportunities that allow for this learning such as study abroad, internship and research opportunities.

Summer Internship Applications Open


Do you want to conduct research this summer with a UT faculty member?  The Office of Undergraduate Research funds a summer internship program to promote research and creative activity among undergraduate students. All current full-time undergraduate students enrolled at the Knoxville campus are eligible to apply.

The deadline to apply is Friday, February 12.

Apply for a Travel Scholarship to Attend NCUR 2016


Attend the 30th annual meeting of the largest gathering of undergraduate researchers - National Conferences on Undergraduate Research (NCUR) - held in Asheville, North Carolina this year from April 7-9.

UT is offering partial travel scholarships (hotel costs for  two nights) for this event. Students with accepted abstracts will receive preference for scholarships.

The deadline to apply for the travel scholarship is February 5.

Students’ Research to Potentially Become Cherokee Biographies for Children

 

From Tennessee Today:

A group of UT students spent this fall delving into the lives of Cherokees who called East Tennessee home in the 1800s, before they were forcibly removed and relocated west of the Mississippi River.

The students’ research and recovery of the lost stories of Cherokee people could be translated into the Cherokee language and become children’s books that would find their way to immersion schools, cultural centers, and local museums.

Represent UT at the Undergraduate Awards in Ireland


Held in Dublin, Ireland each year, the Undergraduate Awards recognize undergraduate research and creative activity across the globe. Participation is open to the Classes of 2015, 2016, and 2017.

Submission is free and is as simple as filling out a form online. You can submit up to three pieces of coursework across the 25 categories. The chosen piece must have received a grade of A- or higher.  

Students chosen in the top 10% will represent UT at the awards ceremony in Dublin, Ireland in November 2016. Current students will receive travel scholarships to attend.

In 2015 (the first year of UT's participation), 2 UT students placed in the top 10% and were offered full travel scholarships to attend!

EXPLORE is UT’s new database of undergraduate research opportunities. Students can use EXPLORE to search for faculty by academic department, view available on-campus research positions, and view off-campus research opportunities.

Positions are listed as paid, volunteer, or for academic credit.
