Gran Feudo Rosado 2017

Gran Feudo Rosado 2017

All signs are pointing to the fact that summer is winding down: the CNE is on in Toronto, back-to-school ads are everywhere, and grocery stores are starting to sell Halloween candy. Wait, what? Summer is not over yet! The sun still shines, the weather is still warm (or hot), trees are still full of green leaves, and its still Rosé season! Well, Rosado season if we’re talking Spanish Rosé. It’s the perfect time for a glass (or two, or three) of Gran Feudo Rosado!

Tasting Note: The electric strawberry colour hints at what is inside a bottle of Gran Feudo Rosado. A blend of Garnacha (Grenache), Tempranillo and Merlot, the wine has a bright acidity that keeps the wild strawberry and cherry fruit lively and the wine refreshing.

Enjoy With:  Vegetables and salads as well as charcuterie, rice dishes, pasta, fish, eggs or white meats.

Style: A medium-bodied, fruity and dry Rosado wine.

Terroir / Region: Chivite makes its wines in the Navarra region of Spain, a very diverse region to say the least. Wines are typically blended following a similar formula to the Gran Feudo Rosado, with some perhaps adding a splash of Cabernet Sauvignon. These blended Rosado wines have been a specialty of the region for long enough to have counted Catherine the Great as a fan!

Producer: The Chivite family has been making wine in the Navarra region since the 1600s with 11 generations having taken up the family business. The Gran Feudo label is the best-known wine coming from the region – it has a history of praise for quality and value, earning a reputation strong enough to bring the Navarra region onto the world’s stage.

Availability: Gran Feudo Rosado is available year-round in the Spain section of your local LCBO. Grab a few today to keep summer alive as long as you like.
