August 2017 Smarter Together News
Welcome to the latest edition of news from the Smarter Together project, a member of the EU Horizon 2020 research program. The European lighthouse cities Vienna, Munich and Lyon; the follower cities Santiago de Compostela, Sofia and Venice; and the observer cities Kiev and Yokohama come together in order to improve the quality of life of their citizens. Below you will find updates on the development of co-created and replicable Smart City solutions in 5 concrete areas– citizen engagement, district heating & renewable energy, holistic refurbishment, smart data and e-mobility.

Lyon Meeting Brings Together Cities and Partners
From 28 to 30 June, Smarter Together Lighthouse cities, Follower cities and project partners met in Lighthouse city Lyon for replication strategy discussions, peer-to-peer exchanges, site visits, and project updates. Intelligent New Street Lamps Smarten up Munich
Smart street lamps are now shedding new light on their first street in Munich. Developed by the Department of Public Building Construction as part of ‘Smarter Together’, the new street lamps are fitted with cutting-edge LED and sensor technology. A Site Visit with Dr. Michael Ludwig

SCIS Conference - Empowering Smart Solutions for Better Cities
2-3 October - Budapest, Hungary Registration is now open for the annual conference of the EU Smart Cities Information System, which will encourage the replication of smart cities technologies, solutions and experiences among cities and communities.

4-5 October - Sønderborg, Denmark The 100% Climate Neutrality conference will bring decision makers, researchers and industry representatives together to have dialogues and identify future ways of reaching 100% climate neutrality.
