Black, Asian & minority ethnic artists can apply for a bursary to attend IETM Porto – a major performing arts networking event in Portugal; the Architecture Fringe 2018 Open Call has just been announced; we are accepting proposals from research and evaluation consultants to conduct a study on the perception of Britain in Germany; emerging professional artists can now apply for an international residency programme based in Amsterdam; in partnership with the Royal African Society, this month we are presenting 'Africa in 2018: Prospects & Forecasts' in London and Edinburgh; and we are looking for a curator/organisation to help us shape and deliver a photography exhibition in the UK and Gulf.

 
 

Connected City

Rapid urban shifts in the city of Seoul in Korea have been reflected in changes to the daily lives of the people who live there.

The Connected City programme in Seoul, part of UK/Korea 2017-18, provided a way for communities to explore, reimagine and reconnect with the city they live in.

Cairo Calling

Since 2014 Cairo Calling has brought musicians from Egypt and the UK together and explored the similarities between local DIY music scenes. A new film, chart-topping compilation and series of broadcasts from Rinse FM, supported by the British Council, celebrates the best of Cairo Calling to date and introduces the uninitiated to the Mahraganat sound.

Venice Biennale 2019

London-based curator Ralph Rugoff, the director of London’s Hayward Gallery, has been appointed artistic director of the 2019 Venice Biennale. He is the first UK-based curator to be given the prestigious role and the first American to fill the post since Robert Storr in 2007. He has been the director of the Hayward since 2006 and in 2015 was artistic director of the 13th Biennale de Lyon.

BAFTA 2018 nominations

The 2018 BAFTA nominations have been revealed, and this year's selection boasts a strong British presence with Martin McDonough's Three Billboards Outside of Ebbing, Missouri and Winston Chruchill biopic Darkest Hour both receiving nine nominations, including the categories of Outstanding British Film and Best Film.
