Sad Nuggie, 6xityWings, and Ricco’s Cash & Carry have all opened their doors, bringing fresh flavors and new shopping options to our area. From tasty comfort food to convenient local goods, these new spots add even more variety and energy to our growing community. Sad Nuggie began as a viral character—a chicken nugget bringing smiles and support for mental wellness—and has since grown into a line of plush toys, stickers, apparel, and more. The new storefront offers a unique experience where visitors can “adopt” their own Nuggie plushie, complete with an adoption certificate and collectible card.
The grand opening of 6xityWings drew an overwhelming crowd, with community members eager to try the new restaurant’s wide selection of wings, fries, and signature sauces. Check out their offerings online or be sure to stop by and check it out in person.
The community gathered on September 20 to celebrate the grand opening of Ricco Cash and Carry. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by Mayor Sue Clarke and Mayor Colin Grantham, marking an exciting new chapter for a long-standing local business as Ricco Food Distributors has been proudly serving the Adelaide Metcalfe community since 1990. Public Works Department LATEST RESURFACING PROJECTS This month, the Township is pleased to announce the successful completion of two road resurfacing projects, made possible through the generous support of the Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund (Napier Road and Scotchmere Drive) and the Canada Community-Building Fund (Scotchmere Drive). These improvements will provide safer, smoother, and longer-lasting roadways for residents and visitors for years to come!
CHANGE TO SCHOOL ROAD LANDFILL Due to the site reaching capacity limits for non-hazardous waste, the landfill can no longer accept household garbage or similar materials. This step is necessary to ensure the site remains safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible. Additionally, please note that the School Road Landfill is now open only on the second Saturday of each month from now until February. RESPECT THE PLOW The Township's Roads Department is ramping up for the winter season ahead to ensure our roads remain safe for residents. Please remember that snowplow operators are busy operating various controls, dealing with potential visibility issues due to the large amounts of snow and obstacles along their route. We ask that you be patient, respect our snowplow operators and give them the space they need to plow the area. In addition, with the heavy snowfall, it takes longer for crews to complete all routes. Please be patient. Adelaide Metcalfe Fire Department
FIRE PREVENTION WEEK 2025 Chief Parker and Firefighter Samantha Bolton had the pleasure of welcoming the Bluewater Hawks U9C Girls Hockey team to the station as part of Fire Prevention Week 2025. Big thank-you to the Bluewater Hawks for stopping by and helping us spread the word!
FUELING FIRE SAFETY GRANT The Adelaide Metcalfe Fire Department is proud to announce that we have received a generous grant from Enbridge Fueling Futures in support of the replacement of Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) units and safety equipment upgrades for our fire services. This funding will directly enhance the safety and effectiveness of our volunteer firefighters by ensuring they have access to reliable, modern equipment when responding to emergencies. We extend our sincere thanks to @Enbridge for their commitment to community safety. Stay Safe! From October 5–11, the Adelaide Metcalfe Fire Department focused on the importance of lithium-ion battery safety during Fire Prevention Week. Residents are reminded to purchase only certified products, avoid leaving devices charging unattended, and recycle batteries properly. While Fire Prevention Week has passed, it’s always a good time to review fire safety at home—a few small steps can prevent big risks. Opportunities & Resources
