Orange Dam

This is the Ayakita Dam in Japan. Constructed in 1960, it's a fine example of an arch dam built in the Brutalist architecture style. Arch dams are known to be effective designs to withstand earthquakes. We like their choice of orange for the dam’s command centres and attached orange flood gates.

We are proud to dedicate this issue of “Orange” to RTO (formerly the Retired Teachers of Ontario), Canada's largest insurance provider for education community retirees.

For the past two years, it has been a rare privilege to work with an incredible team on a comprehensive brand revitalization for the organization. H&W and brand strategist Mary Jane Braide, worked with RTO’s Board, leadership, staff, foundation, communications and marketing team, and district leaders to bring the revitalized brand to life.

The brand was built with input from the full membership through surveys, workshops, forums, and close working groups. It has been an amazing journey.

A better future, together.
