Catalyst Report and Shout Out launch

On Monday 22nd August, young people, key stakeholders and politicians gathered at City Farm to celebrate the achievements of young people and launch the Shout Out initiative and the Catalyst Youth Summit report.

It was a fantastic night and we would like to thank both the young people and our supporters of both programs, YACWA, the Office of Multicultural Interests (OMI), Lotterywest, DLGC, Edith Cowan University and MYAN Australia.

The Catalyst Summit Report shares the major findings from the summit. It also paints a story of what many young participants have been doing since the event, and demonstrates the importance and benefits of such initiatives. Most importantly, on page 37 - there is a call to action. We encourage you to read this document carefully to honour the information these young people shared.

  • How practitioners and policy-makers can incorporate the NYSF into their work, including using the NYSF Assessment Tools

Applications are now open and will close on 9 September 2016.

National Youth Summit 2016

In July 2016, 100 young advocates from across Australia gathered in Melbourne to explore key issues and demands of young people for our new Federal parliament. MYAN WA nominated Daniel Matabishi to attend, and with the kind sponsorship of the Fogarty Foundation (through The Smith Family), City of Stirling and Janine Freeman, MLA he was able to attend and represent WA young people from refugee and migrant backgrounds.

"The National Youth Summit was fantastic! Being around 100 passionate, politically engaged social justice advocates from all over Australia was an experience like no other. It was an honour to be able to work collaboratively and have the opportunity to influence social and political change about issues that affect us all." - Apajok Bair, MYAN NSW representative. You can read Apajok's full report here.
