Click here Welcome to our monthly digital newsletter with events and holy happenings from around the Diocese of Peterborough.If you have stories to be included in future editions email: communications@peterborough-diocese.org.uk On Wednesday 9 July the Diocesan Synod, accompanied by Parish Treasurers, met with a particular focus on diocesan finances, at Bishop Stopford School in Kettering. In her presidential address, Bishop Debbie spoke of the joy of the recent ordinations and noted the call for all disciples to work together in making Christ known. On a gloriously sunny day at the end of June all children at Peakirk-cum-Glinton Church of England Primary School took part in a community prayer event, with younger children completing activities within the school grounds and older children walking a route around Glinton village stopping at prayer stations along the way. The Peterborough Diocese branch of the Prayer Book Society will be hosting a regional heat of the Cranmer Awards on Saturday 25 October. The event will be held in Croughton Village Hall, NN13 5ND and begin at 1pm. The Cranmer Awards aim to encourage confidence and ability at public speaking, as well as familiarity with liturgy and the bible. Entries are welcome from schools, churches, or individuals. Light Project Peterborough is the Bishop’s Charity for 2025. This amazing charity works to enable and equip the church and community to heal the broken-hearted, set free the oppressed, and bring good news to the poor. They have been active in Peterborough since 2009 and continue to support wherever they can. As part of our focus on their work we hear Elias and Meriam's story. Children from the 40 locations that are part of the national Flourish pilot, were invited to a celebration at St Martins in the Bullring, Birmingham. Representatives from three schools in the Diocese, taking part in the pilot with their local churches, joined the celebration for a day of worship, celebration and sharing stories. From 28 July to 31 August, Shaun the Sheep is flocking to Peterborough for a baa-rilliant adventure! Complete the trail by finding twelve Shaun the Sheep statues, painted by artists from all over the world, hidden around Peterborough city centre. The trail starts in Queensgate Shopping Centre and ends in Peterborough Cathedral - it's like a giant game of hide-and-sheep! Celebrating all creatures great and smallWhether it’s a snapshot of some local wildlife, pets who have paid your church a visit, or depictions of animals in stained glass windows, paintings and carvings, the Church of England want to hear from you. Take part in their summer campaign by sharing your photos and videos on social media and tagging them #GreatAndSmall. |
