When someone is referred to you or interested in what you offer, they’ll Google your name or what they’re looking for. Will they get past your homepage if they find you?

In our last issue, we covered defining your position (why people should choose you), profiling your audiences (who they are and what they care about) and building an inbound marketing strategy (getting visitors to your website and turning them into leads).

Is traffic up? Is that enough?

Nope. A successful website is about more than traffic. It must help visitors see at a glance they’re in the right place. Are you losing valuable prospects on the first visit?

Does your homepage pass the 3-second blink test?
Your homepage is your welcome mat. The first impression. If it’s cluttered, confusing or vague, visitors will move on. Show them who you are, what you do and why they should look further ... in just three seconds. In a blink.

Here’s a simple test: Ask a few people who don’t know your company to look at your homepage for three seconds, then tell you what they remember. What do they “get” about what you do and offer? If they don’t know or they have it wrong, it’s time to rethink your welcome mat.

This is just one in a list of tips to get and keep visitors on your website. Visit Why is your website an essential “point of choice”? for the rest.
