Global Cities Forum

Catalyzing innovation and maximizing opportunity in the move to a low-carbon economy

The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) invites you to join political, business, and financial leaders to explore how cities are leading the transition to a low-carbon economy. This virtual roundtable will bring together city and business leaders from across five continents to share ideas on how cities can sharpen their competitive advantage by managing climate risks and capitalize on the opportunities from low carbon technologies.

At the Global Cities Forum, CDP will release its 2012 Global Report, which will highlight how the largest cities in the world are tackling climate change, innovating and shaping the low-carbon future, building business resilience and ensuring sustainable, profitable success. A section of the global report will showcase C40 cities and the results from the second year of annual reporting.

The Global Cities Forum will take place on 7 June 2012 at 9:30am – 11:00am (Eastern Time) / 2:30pm – 4:00pm (British Summer Time). You will have the chance join this global conversation via WebEx. During the Global Cities Forum participants will:

- Highlight innovative methods of climate change action pioneered by some of the largest and most progressive cities in the world.

- Share ideas on how to accelerate and scale up the innovative actions that cities are taking.

- Identify the opportunities that measurement and reporting can create within your city. Learn how businesses value their city’s activities on climate change and what lessons can be learned from progressive private-sector entities.

The Global Cities Forum is ideally placed just weeks before Rio+20—the UN Conference on Sustainable Development in Rio, Brazil; so leaders can reflect on the process leading up to Rio+20 and focus their thoughts for the upcoming negotiations.

Recognized as 'the most powerful green NGO' in the Harvard Business Review and winner of the 2012 Zayed Future Energy Prize, CDP has been catalyzing climate change action in business and government for the past decade. Over 3,700 companies and 70 large cities report annually on climate change through CDP’s online platform.
