Welcome to week 4 of our journey to create a culture of safety and awareness about elopement risks. If you missed week 1, check it out here. If you missed week 2, review it here. If you missed week 3, here it is. In case you missed it, earlier this month, Senator Bob Casey sent a letter to the CEOs of the largest senior living providers in the company, asking them to step up to the plate and provide details on how they're keeping residents safe and preventing elopements. We're officially under the spotlight as an industry, and the regulatory scrutiny will roll downhill to our doorsteps. Let's continue to up our game and do everything in our power to keep our residents safe.
Elevate your Leadership Week 4 During week 1, we identified our process gaps. Last week, week 2, we completed drills to identify our responsiveness and operational gaps. You completed real-time education to address areas of opportunity. Week 3 was all about fixing processes and preparing for education. This week brings everything full circle by utilizing education to fix your previously identified knowledge and process gaps. Your two tasks for the week are as follows.
Continue to have your leadership team report on their QAPI plans and progress. Bring your team together, assign a note taker, and listen to the progress. These weekly touchpoints will serve as part of your QAPI process and should be documented with minutes and attendance sign-in sheets. There is no room for leniency with the action plans. Hold the team accountable to deliver on their plans.
Your second task is to prepare for and carry out your scheduled training. Identify who the trainers will be, when the training will occur, and how you will document the training. Last ,week, you utilizedd your SWOT analysis to create an outline of your education and then scheduled the education for later this week. You need to turn your outline into content this week and carry out the education. Pull together ypost-testant policies and procedures and anything specific to your community. Prepare talking points and a 10-20 question post-test for the attendees to take at the end of the training to ensure the content sticks. Make the education engaging by using scenarios to illustrate your processes.
That's it for this week. Stay tuned for next Sunday's newsletter.
Whenever you're ready, there are a couple of ways I can help you.
