July 2017 Smarter Together News
Welcome to the latest edition of news from the Smarter Together project, a member of the EU Horizon 2020 research program. The European lighthouse cities Vienna, Munich and Lyon; the follower cities Santiago de Compostela, Sofia and Venice; and the observer cities Kiev and Yokohama come together in order to improve the quality of life of their citizens. Below you will find updates on the development of co-created and replicable Smart City solutions in 5 concrete areas– citizen engagement, district heating & renewable energy, holistic refurbishment, smart data and e-mobility.

Students Visit Munich's Living Lab

Co-Creation Workshop on Smart Data in Lyon
On 31 May, a one day co-creation workshop on smart data collection and applications was organized in Lyon with more than 40 people in attendance, participating from a range of experience and backgrounds. For more information on topics discussed, click here.
From Smarter Together Vienna
Mobility with a Future in Vienna and the Simmering District
On 19 June, Smarter Together cooperated with the Vienna Business Agency to invite governance and business representatives to a meeting and exchange on urban mobility of the future. Click here for more details on the topics, presentations, and exhibitions organized.
Upcoming Events
WP7 Thematic Workshop
11-12 July - Sofia, Bulgaria This two-day workshop will center around WP 7.2; designing solutions in Follower cities. In addition to Sofia, Santiago de Compostela, and Venice, additional representatives from Lighthouse cities and other partners will be present.
5-19 July (1st tour) - Vienna, Austria The SIMmobil will be on tour during the summer, making stops around Simmering while providing smart information, games, goodies, product tests, and details on renting Simmering's new e-load bicycle.
SCIS Conference - Empowering Smart Solutions for Better Cities
2-3 October - Budapest, Hungary Registration is now open for the annual conference of the EU Smart Cities Information System, which will encourage the replication of smart cities technologies, solutions and experiences among cities and communities.
