Beginners guide to indoor plants

Come along to learn the ins and outs of growing your own indoor jungle.

We provide all the care tips to start your indoor plant collection and make it thrive. Emma, a Horticulturalist from Garden Grit will teach you all about soil, light conditions, correct watering and more!

Oaklands Wetland tours

The Oaklands Wetland is home to an extensive array of wildlife such as waders, cockatoos, ducks and many majestic river red gums.

Learn all about how this system cleans water as it moves slowly through a series of ponds through a one hour guided tour.

Clean Up Australia Day

Make a resolution to commit to a more sustainable 2024.

Residents who would like to help remove rubbish from Marion's parks, wetlands, coast and creeks can either: 

- Join a registered event site OR 
- Register your own site and become a site supervisor.

Council can provide rubbish pick-up services following the event where required.

Down with worm holes

Compost worms are gardening superheroes that, with a little know how, can convert unwanted kitchen waste into black garden gold! 

Hannah will take you down the wormhole into the subterranean world of these marvelous creatures, guiding you through the do’s and don'ts of keeping your own worm farm happy, and healthy at home.

Sustainability event series - coming soon!

Open your calendars and free up your Tuesday evenings.

Starting in March, our regular sustainability event series will be held at Mitchell Park Neighborhood Centre. You can expect to learn a new skill or snippet of knowledge, have a chat with likeminded people and feel part of the local efforts to improve sustainability and our environment.

Take our 5 minute survey and help shape the topics for the series by telling us what you are interested in!
