The communion service, which included readings and music chosen by Bishop John, was a lovely celebration of his episcopal ministry in this Diocese.
On Saturday 27 September, all our Lay Workers, Lay Ministers and Readers joined together to renew their ministries, and support those beginning in these ministries, in a joyous celebration in Peterborough Cathedral. On Saturday 20 September the 350th anniversary of the Great Fire of Northampton was marked with a special event in Market Square which rounded off a week-long series of free activities across the town. In July, St Stephens Church, Carlby, in the Rutland Deanery, celebrated the end of a long project to add a toilet and a servery into the church. This wonderful celebration, marked the end of a heartfelt and prayer filled journey to make the church fit for worship and fellowship in the rural community. On the weekend of 30 – 31 August, the tiny village of Alderton in the Towcester Deanery, held its 49th Art Festival selling art from over 40 local artists, bringing together the community and raising £8,000 for St Margaret’s Church. The Peterborough Diocesan Guild of Church Bellringers Summer Festival 2025 was hosted by the Peterborough branch at St Kyneburgha, Castor. Six teams competed with the the Harry Wooding Trophy and a certificate being presented to the overall winning team. Light Project Peterborough is the Bishop’s Charity for 2025. This amazing charity works to enable and equip the church and community to heal the broken-hearted, set free the oppressed, and bring good news to the poor. They have been active in Peterborough since 2009 and continue to support wherever they can. As part of our focus on their work we hear Alan's story.
