The estate of advertising magnate Albert Lasker was epitome of the country retreat with a manor house, grand gardens, a gentleman farm and an 18-hole golf course. This bike tour will share the history of Mill Road Farm. The tour lasts 2 hours and covers approximately 5 miles.

The Knollwood Fire Department (KFD) has been serving the residents of Knollwood since 1947. For the past 2 years, the Rockland Fire Protection District (RFPD) has been in discussions with surrounding fire departments to explore other ways of providing services.
In December 2017, the District received a joint proposal from Libertyville and Lake Forest; and in February 2018 the Lake Bluff Fire Department presented a very different kind of proposal. Evaluation of Proposals
RFPD attorney Brian O'Connor was asked to present an assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of the two proposals, as well as the consequences of taking no action. His report is presented here.

Extended closures needed into July for local bridge repairs
Full closure of the Atkinson Road Bridge carrying traffic over the North Tri-State Tollway (I-94) in Lake County is scheduled to begin Monday, May 14, for bridge repair and resurfacing. The bridge is scheduled to remain closed into July.

You're invited to join one of the upcoming Telephone Town Hall meetings on June 6 and 20 at 7 p.m. During the Telephone Town Halls, Lake County Board Chairman Aaron Lawlor will discuss current priorities, and you will be able to share your thoughts and ideas to make Lake County a better place.

Dial-a-RideYou can register at the Shields Township office for for this curb-to-curb service that takes the elderly or disabled where they need to go. Once you are registered and have made a reservation, you will need $3 for a one way trip and $6 for a round trip.
ElderCARE ElderCARE services are catered to the needs of adults over 65 years of age residing in Northern Lake County. ElderCARE will match you with a caring volunteer who will assist you. They will take you to medical appointments, grocery shopping, and even pay a friendly visit. For more information call 847-406-4683.
LIHEAP for Seniors LIHEAP stands for Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program. The organization helps to pay for cooling and heating bills or home repairs that have been caused by weatherization or energy-related accidents.
