Meet one of the newest players at the LCBO; an Australian with a full body, a smooth, charming personality, but complex if you want to dive deep. Oh, and rich! This is Johnny Q.
No, this is not the next contestant on The Bachelor – LCBO Edition, it’s Johnny Q Shiraz; a great wine and killer value from Quarisa wines. And although Johnny Q is not single (he’s got Mrs. Q of course!), you can buy his Shiraz on its own, although it’s always more fun with two.
Tasting Notes: Johnny Q Shiraz pours with a deep ruby hue, sporting aromas of dark berries, plum, and integrated vanilla and oak spice from time in barrel. The palate’s plush, ripe tannins give an intense but smooth texture, drawing flavours and textures through the long finish.
Enjoy With: Grilled T-bone steaks, juicy burgers, roast prime rib, smoked meats and sharp cheeses. Johnny Q Shiraz is also a great sipping wine for those who enjoy full bodied flavours.
Style: A dry, full-bodied red wine.
Terroir/Region: Johnny Q Shiraz is a blend of grapes from the Padthaway and Coonawarra regions of Australia. Coonawarra is noted for its iron-rich Terra Rosa soils, producing intense, structured wines from Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz. Warmer than Coonawarra, the Padthaway fruit blended in adds juicy berry notes and softer tannins, striking a perfect harmony with this wine’s Coonawarra foundations.
Producer: Johnny Q wines take their name from the Quarisa family winery and John, the founder and head winemaker. Born in Australia, Johnny embraced his Italian roots and took to winemaking. He has now spent over 25 years in the wine business, always focusing on quality driven wines and affordable prices. Keep it up Johnny!
