April 2020

Dear Friends, Fans, Neighbors, and People,

I play an instrument, and every once in a while, when the instrument and I are one, we make a little Art. This Art will not stop a war or a virus, but maybe for a brief time we can hold that beauty as we look out into these turbulent times and move forward with courage.

I am not on the front lines, but like many of you I have been affected by the very important change of staying home. I am assisting friends and neighbors when possible, but mostly working anew from my office, for which I'm most grateful. Of course, the east & west coast tours were canceled and my income tanked by 90%, but it's just reality and we go on...

I have arranged 5 new solos, received two new works from Vineet Shende, and yes today, I spoke with a composer about a new large solo work. AND On Friday April 3, I will perform my first internet concert!
Sometimes making plans for the future allows the present to be more palatable.

How can you be a part?

  • Join me Friday for the internet concert! (see below)
  • Purchase or Download my albums (Bandcamp is nicest to artists)
  • Subscribe to my youtube channel & watch the videos!
  • Visit my store for autographed scores and CDs? – Soon stickers and more arrangements!
  • If you are able, you can make a tax deductible contribution to my projects via Fractured Atlas.

There truly isn't a better time to enjoy being alive; learn something new or just enjoy the feeling of champagne bubbles or the taste of a fresh espresso. Wherever you are please be safe, and I fully expect us to see you in person at a concert when life begins anew.

Musically,
Aaron

Themes of transformation permiate the program. From Barrios' last work inspired by a passing beggar, a 21st century lullaby for a little girl, a Spanish dance, and a place where our minds quiet, to a 13th century legend and much in between. It will be an exciting concert, and a first for me! Thank you for partaking in the new adventure. Come with questions, though I may not have answers beyond the music.

Program:
Preludes by J.S. Bach
Una Limosna por el Amor De Dios by Agustin Barrios
España Cañi by Pascual Marquina
Esperanza by Stephanie Ann Boyd – Web Premiere!
In a Landscape by John Cage
Legend of Hagoromo by Keigo Fujii
