Welcome to our first newsletter of 2021. With spring approaching and the end of lockdown in sight, we look at some of the positive changes taking place this year in mapping, demographics, and our product range. Census 2021The 2021 Census is due to take place next month. We take a look at how the Office for National Statistics are approaching the issue of COVID-19. Is it an outlier year and should the census be postponed, or is a census now more important than ever to measure the impact of the pandemic and Brexit? We look at the data the census collects and how it can be used to help organisations to understand their audience. Finally, we explore how to keep your demographic data up to date whilst we wait for this new data to be released. What a difference a decade makesTo help us take stock ahead of Census 2021, we look at the data from the previous two census. What societal change did the data suggest between 2001 and 2011, and what trends should we look out for in this year's census. In short, what difference does 10 years make to our society? Prospex updateWe are preparing the latest update for our Prospex GIS to give it the most recent postcode data. Toby, our account manager, will be in touch with all existing Prospex clients with details of` the new version. MapVision: thematics for faster, consistent mappingWith more clients taking up MapVision to meet their mapping and online collaboration needs during lockdown, we've been hard at work introducing new features to accommodate their requirements. Our biggest improvement has been a range of options to make creating catchments easier. The latest video tutorial on our YouTube channel shows you how simple it is to apply thematics to your maps - something that could save you time and give all of your projects a consistent look and feel.
